Custom Metal Buildings

Complete design, fabrication, and erection of weld-up and bolt-up metal buildings, and metal carports.

Amidst the large Metal Building Manufacturers in the U.S., ARRK has found its place by truly being a locally owned and operated metal building provider for the greater Bryan/College Station Area.

When it comes to an asset like a metal building, ARRK believes in the importance of working with professional local contractors that understand the regional construction requirements & provide top-quality, in-person care for our fellow Texans.

We know the stress associated with construction, which is why we believe completing as many aspects of the process in-house is crucial, hence the ARRK Process!

Why choose a Weld-up red-iron metal building over a pre-manufactured metal building kit?

Here’s why we always choose a local metal building contractor.

Higher quality & more durable buildings.

Many metal building kits minimize material usage to save the company money. This often leads to a metal building barely exceeding the necessary strength requirements for wind loads in the area.

In contrast, metal building contractor’s like ARRK oversize beams to create a structurally sound metal building that lasts decades.

Installation issues addressed on the spot.

When hiring a crew to install a manufactured metal building that they did not design themselves, the crew often lacks the necessary equipment and tooling needed to adjust the building kit if dimensional issues arise.

We often see concrete pads not being poured to tight enough tolerances to match the design dimensions of the pre-manufactured building.

That is why at ARRK we design the building post-concrete pour, thereby utilizing the actual dimensions of the concrete pad.

Professional opinions throughout the process.

Often it is our clients first time constructing a metal building on their property. With this comes many questions about the process, design options and functionality of the building.

Working with a local contractor provides the client with complete access to the knowledge and lessons learned of the ARRK team.

Additionally, this allows for a greater level of transparency into the design and installation of your metal building when you choose a local team.

Customizable designs.

This is the #1 reason so many clients choose ARRK. You don’t want to be limited to the stock selection of metal buildings.

We believe in being creative and fitting your metal building to your exact needs. Whether it be the dimensions, porch overhang, or number of bay doors; every part of your metal building is customizable with ARRK.

Shorter lead times.

Tired of hearing about a 6 to 8 week lead time for your metal building kit to be made, plus the additional installation time? Choose ARRK, as we average a 3 week install time from the first day of fabrication to complete installation.

Less crews and less confusion.

Having to find a local concrete installer, plumber, electrician, and metal building installer is a hassle.

Let ARRK take care of it for you with our trusted local contacts & superior quality control of our subcontractors. Remember, ARRK employees take care of the most important part of the build itself, the actual metal building.

 The ARRK Process

How we design and build custom metal buildings

Step 1: Meet the Owners of ARRK!

Ryan Kraus - Owner of ARRK Fabrication

Being a small business has its challenges but it also has its perks. One of them is the ability for the owners to still interact with every one of our clients!

After calling, emailing or filling out the interest form for ARRK, either Alex or Ryan will schedule a time to meet with you either at our shop or on your property (whichever is most reasonable). During the preliminary meeting, we will discuss the building's details so we can get started on a quote for your building. Below are the main design considerations when building a metal building:

Design Considerations

  • Building footprint

  • Awning/carport areas

  • Eave height (wall height)

  • Roof pitch

  • Number, location, and size of walk-through doors, bay doors, and windows

  • Vents on building

  • Wall Panel, Roof panel, and trim colors

  • Lighting & electrical layout

  • Insulation (R-11 or R-13)

  • Plumbing needs

Step 4: ARRK’s Design & 3D Modeling Service Implementation

What separates ARRK from other metal building companies is the all-inclusive 3D modeling of your metal building. This allows for the fabrication and construction of your metal building to be performed as planned without any errors on the job site.

All components of the steel superstructure are modeled and shop drawings created from that model.

Clients are encouraged to review the model before fabrication to ensure no last minute changes are required.

Step 5: Concrete & Plumbing Installation

ARRK coordinates with the best local concrete and plumbing contractors in town to get your metal building pad made. We always have a representative closely monitoring our subcontractors on the jobsite.

Step 6: ARRK’s In-Shop Fabrication Begins

To save time and money for our clients, ARRK fabricates all of the structural materials of our metal buildings in our facility.

We ensure all steel pieces are cut to length according to the design. Any requested priming or painting of steel materials happens here as well.

Step 7: Metal Building Erection Begins

ARRK’s team of highly skilled fabricators and laborers erect the superstructure of your building, utilizing the pre-fabricated beams. This process usually takes about a week.

Step 9: Final Walkthrough

If you care about it, then we care about it! At ARRK we are going for 100% customer satisfaction, so if you see something wrong with the final product, we want to know about it so we can fix it and make it right.

We do this by having one of ARRK’s owners walk through your new custom metal building and check all aspects of the building for any defects.

Whatever the intent of your metal building, be it storage, a shop, garage, church or barndominium, you now have it all to yourself!

ARRK leaves your metal building move-in ready, sometimes even with a little metal-building-warming gift!

Metal building frequently asked questions

  • The biggest selling point for many of our clients is cost. Metal buildings tend to be 20-30% cheaper than a wood building. With material prices on the rise, the cost differential between a wood versus steel building is growing.

Durability is another major advantage of metal buildings. With sheet metal panels having a 20 year paint warranty and steel beams lasting for decades, your building will be standing for generations to come

Low upkeep is always a plus. There is zero recoating or repainting of the exterior of the building like there is for traditional wood siding.

Aesthetics – The professional and permanent look of a custom designed metal building is bar-none to any other type of residential shop or building.

  • Our metal buildings tend to be around $30-$40/sqft for a single story metal building. This includes design, concrete, fabrication and construction of your metal building. Add ons including insulation, overhangs, wainscots, garage doors, and window sizes/quantities can make the exact price for your specific build vary. Feel free to reach out for an exact quote for your building!

Already have the concrete poured? Great, the price for just the building typically runs around $20-30/ft² if the concrete is already set in place. Just coordinate with us prior to the concrete pour, so we can provide insight into how the concrete pad will interact with the metal framework.

  • Besides being your #1 local metal building fabrication company in the Bryan/college station area, ARRK has taken a different approach to designing and constructing custom metal buildings!

We stand apart in our ability to design your entire building in our state-of-the-art 3D modeling software, alleviating many errors in the construction process, and allowing for design changes before breaking ground.

We have also chosen to make our buildings bolt-up, saving time in the field, creating a stronger building frame, and achieving better alignment for your building.

  • This depends upon project size, but most projects take about a month to a month and a half to complete. This includes 2 weeks for concrete, a week for design, and 3-4 weeks for construction.

Our team works as efficiently as possible while still upholding a zero-tolerance policy for craftsmanship errors.

  • When it comes to the actual metal building, ARRK employees are 100% the only workers that will touch any beam or sheet metal used in the construction of the building. All employees up to this point have been individually trained by ARRK’s co-owner and fabrication manager. The only subcontractors ARRK utilizes are for the concrete pad, plumbing, and electrical if needed.

However, we always have an ARRK representative onsite during these processes to ensure proper completion and integration with the metal building structure.

  • Yes, just know that within city limits, a construction permit is required, and potentially a professional engineer’s stamp for our design, which both add additional costs to the project.

  • ARRK provides a 2 year workmanship guarantee; meaning if anything happens to your metal building in the first 2 years post-construction, we will send a crew out to fix the problem.

Note: this guarantee does not cover building damage due to equipment, vehicles, or severe weather damaging the building. It only covers damage from error in craftsmanship.

Additionally, most of our sheet suppliers provide a 20 year paint warranty on the sheeting. Confirmation of this warranty is required however.

  • No distance is too far for ARRK… well maybe let’s talk about that.

In all seriousness, our team is able to travel quite a distance to complete your project; with our limits usually being about a 4 hour drive from the Bryan/College Station area.

Any distance past an hour and a half and our team will stay in the area for periods of 4 days at a time to complete the project. If within the 1.5hr radius, we are able to drive to the jobsite each day to complete the work.

  • At ARRK, we love additions and custom modifications to metal buildings just as much as brand new buildings. Reach out to us to schedule an onsite visit and so we can take a look at your next project!

  • No problem, steel awnings and canopies are how we got into the metal building business anyway. These can be as custom as desired, with brick pillars or an entire slick painted cover. Whatever you have in mind, we know how to make it a reality!

  • ARRK is more than capable, and has constructed several steel shells (the steel structure and sheet metal walls) for barndominiums in the Brazos valley and surrounding areas.

Often clients desire to be more “hands on” with their builds, subcontracting out many parts of the construction themselves. When this is the case, ARRK is the #1 contractor in the Brazos Valley for designing, fabricating, and constructing the shell of your barndominium.

ARRK Is in the process of expanding our capabilities to be able to handle turnkey Barndominiums from initial designs to a complete move-in ready home. Feel free to reach out to see where we are in the process!
